What fungi can do!

So this is a Beech tree. This is a Beech tree that is not in good condition. This is a Beech tree that has a lot of dysfunctional wood because of a fungi. The fungi involved in this instance is a Ganoderma australe. This fungi will selectively delignify the wood, leaving the tree with only tensile strength to keep it up right. so effectively when the wind blows and the tree wants to twist…. well thats when things start going wrong!!

This tree had around 10-15% sound wood remaining. In an ideal world, to prevent removal we would hope for 30-35% sound wood.

Good service, provided by nice staff. The team handled the application process required for the removal of a number of very large lleyandii, plus the removal and stump grinding. Even dealing with having to work around a large amount of waste material and old fencing from previous owners.
