A ‘toolbox talk’ is a short presentation to the workforce on a single aspect of health and safety. It is a chance to explain how and why things are done, also a good opportunity for a employees to engage in discussions.
We deliver our talks when the team arrive in the morning. We grab a coffee (or tea) sit round and have an informal discussion. This weeks talk was about manual handling, reinforcing good technique and awareness. Injuries can occur from simple things like not clearing and planning your route and especially from not bending your knees.
Having machinery available to lift heavy items is not always practical, sometimes its the good old fashioned method. The toolbox talk is just a good way to cover all aspects of lifting, lowering or moving items in the safest way possible.
