This majestic Oak tree is probably around 250 – 300 years old. We had the pleasure of reducing it over the last day or so. Now I agree it looks better before, unfortunately the pruning was necessary. Multiple fungi present, which degrade the stem and rooting area. Also the tree was heavily lopped or topped (I hate those terms) in the past and this has led to decay on the ends.
The tree will now be safer for the foreseeable future. Pruning this time of year is also ideal for most trees, including this Oak.
